Thaddeus Rudolph Fleetwood, affectionately known as “Rudy” was born July 15, 1949 in North Carolina. He transitioned to his new life on June 5, 2021. Rudy attended Portsmouth Public Schools and graduated from IC Norcom High School. He served in the US Army from 1975 – 1978. He was employed with the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office for fourteen years, and worked various jobs. He retired from Norfolk State University.
Rudy had a special love for children and his family. He also had a passion for fishing and crabbing.
He was preceded in life by his mother, Joyce C. Fleetwood; father, Henry Fleetwood; daughter, Toni D. Fleetwood-Farmer; brother, Roy D. Fleetwood and sister, Joyce E. Fleetwood-Hart. He leaves to cherish his memories a very special lady in his life for over forty years, Barbara Sawyer; two daughters, Jeannie Artis (Von) and Latisha Kingsbur; six grandchildren, Tiffanie, Bernita, Lamontre, Khai’den, Kharmyn and Kailyn; two special great-grandchildren, Amara and Caisley; brothers, Dennis Fleetwood, David Fleetwood (Janice) and Bernard Fleetwood (Lorraine); sisters, Bernice Davidson, Brenda Jones (Reginald) and Georgienna Roland (Curtis) and multiple uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
