She was born on June 26, 1964, and passed on August 26, 2024.
Sylvia joined her son, Clayton McRath; husband, Raymond White; mother, Barbara Jean Webb; grandmother, Gertrude; father, Sam McRath, and stepfather Anthony Webb; sisters, Sabrina McRath, Earnel McRath and Monica Harris.
Sylvia was born in Owensboro, KY to Barbara Jean Webb and Jesse Richard Harris. She was the 6th out of 7 children on her mother’s side. She went to Owensboro High School, and later in life, she was employed with DAVCO Personal Home Care. Sylvia raised her family in Owensboro. Sylvia moved to Portsmouth VA in 2004, where she met her husband and married him in 2005. Sylvia lived in Portsmouth until her passing. She was a caring, strong woman. Sylvia became a super woman to most; a caretaker to some; a companion to others; and a friend to whomever, as she was a protector to all. Sylvia loved to go to church and loved watching her soap operas with her best friend. Sylvia loved to crab, and loved a variety of casino games, she enjoyed playing them with her friends. She loved to cook and share her food with the whole town. She was always about a hustle, she also worked as a housekeeper from time to time. Sylvia was all about having a good time with family and friends. She was the life of any party, and you couldn’t tell her otherwise. She didn’t have it easy growing up, however whenever she had lemons, she made a way to make lemonade. She was one of a kind. As we visualize the memories of her, we keep them as a keepsake and hold on to them and never let go.
She lives through her children, Jeniece Evans (Andrew) of Owensboro, KY, Christopher McRath (Danelle) of Owensboro, KY, Christina McRath (Maurquise Hill) of Portsmouth, VA, Torii McRath of Portsmouth, VA and Corry McRath of Owensboro, KY; Godson Henry Reese of Chesapeake, VA; her Bestfriends, Dolita Elliott and Sade Delbridge of Portsmouth, VA; and a bonus daughter, Keira Gray of Portsmouth, VA; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters, Beverly (Ricky) Phillips, Cecelia Harvey, Ernestine Hightower and Cynthia Harris-Lewis (Jeffrey); 9 brothers, Dale McRath of Owensboro, KY, Stacy Harris, William N. Harris, Richard Morrow, Vernon Alexander, Robby Dull, Ritchie Dull, Deon Dull, John Harris; 4 stepsiblings; and a host of Friends.
Sylvia will truly be missed.
