Susie Pearl Little

Sunrise: July 13, 1936

Sunset: December 30, 2020

Susie Pearl Little, born on July 13, 1936, transitioned from this life and was called to an eternal rest on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. She was blessed by God to have lived a full life of 84 years. She was the 11th born of a total of 12 siblings.

Susie met and married the love of her life Fred Little, Sr. and from their union they were blessed with two sons, Fred Jr. and Efrem. She was a woman of God dedicated and attentive to her husband and sons. This family’s love for one another was sincere, genuine, and enduring. After the passing of her husband, Susie’s sons ensured that their mother was faithfully taken care of throughout the remaining years of her lifetime. They became her devoted caregivers and safeguarded her all-around comfort at all times.

Susie was extraordinarily special to her family and friends and she has left a lasting mark in the hearts of many. She loved cooking delicious southern meals, and was especially skilled in the making of desserts and other baked goods. Serving others her exceptional home-cooked meals, indeed brought her a sense of joy and cheer to her heart. She would watch their expressions of satisfaction, as they would indulge in every tasty bite. Susie delighted in feeding anyone who visited her home. If a family member or friend became ill, she was willing and prepared to provide them with her meals and also with her loving companionship.

Susie took pride in her work as she served in excellence in various homes within the community. She provided care of their homes and of their children. The families loved her as if she was actually a part of the family. To them she was family.

She loved God and His word. She was thoroughly devoted to reading the Holy Bible, and has read it in its entirety several times throughout her lifetime. Her other favorite pastimes included completing word search puzzles and watching television cooking shows.

Susie, well known for her words of wisdom, often quoted famous old sayings to validate the wise points that she would make. Nonetheless, those who knew her closely, accepted her inoffensive directness and straightforward responses, for they knew her heart was truly loving, generous, and kind.

When she became ill and could no longer care for herself, Fred Jr. and Efrem stepped up all the more and cared for their mom like none other. The affection and care they gave their mom was so very heartwarming, admirable, and stirring. What a beautiful love between a mother and her sons.

Sleep on Susie. Although our world will be empty without you, the memories of the life that you shared with us will live forever.

Susie leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Fred Jr. and Efrem, both of Norfolk, VA; one grandson, Zaire Little and one stepdaughter, Gloria Little, NYC; one brother-in-law, George [Willie Mae] Little of Chesapeake, VA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her devoted friends.

In loving memory are Susie’s predeceased loved ones: her husband, Fred Little, Sr.; her mother, the late Lela P. Roberson; her sisters: the late Ola Mae Peterson, the late Kathleen Corey, the late Dorothy Little, the late Sheila Corey, the late Minnie Robinson; her brothers: the late Lonnie Roberson, the late Ardavis Roberson, the late Robert Roberson, the late Darrell Roberson, the late Johnnie Roberson, and the late Nelson Roberson.

A sincere message of sympathy and support can be a nice way to comfort, but understand all too well that words can not take away the grief, praying that God will give you and the family peace that will calm your souls during this most difficult time.
