In Loving Memory of Stevie Antoine Burgess October 6,1958 – November 21, 2023
Stevie Antoine Burgess, aged 65, of Chesapeake, Va., was the son of the late Timothy and Florine Burgess. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Timothy, Raymond, and David Burgess, and three sisters, Jessie Russell, Dorothy Johnson, and Barbara Burgess. Stevie was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend.
Stevie graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1977. Growing up and until his death, Stevie was a Marvel enthusiast—specifically Spiderman. Hand sketches of Spiderman filled the walls of his teenage bedroom. Right up to his final days, he continued to find delight in the imaginative, timeless worlds of Bugs and Scooby Doo. His love for these characters was a testament to his playful spirit and ability to find joy in the simplest pleasures.
After graduating high school, Stevie enlisted in the United States Navy. The Navy paved an unrivaled opportunity for Stevie to explore the world and experience exciting new cultures. He served honorably as an Aircraft Director while posted on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, where he embodied the principles of duty, honor, and service to his country. Stevie retired from Reliance Concrete Contractors, Inc. in 2022.
Stevie is survived by his brothers, Michael, Leon, Donald, and Walter Burgess, a lifelong friend, Victor Neal, and an entire host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish the moments shared and the love he bestowed upon them. In this time of sorrow, all can find solace in the memories of a life well-lived and the enduring impact of Stevie’s love.
Those who knew him also knew his sensitivity and kindness and will continue to remember his infectious laughter and smile that could light up any room. His endearing dimples were an outward reflection of the beauty that radiated from Stevie’s heart. We will miss him.
