Stephan Travis Claude was called home by his heavenly Father on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Steve, as he was affectionately known by many, was born February 24, 1966, in Norfolk, VA. Steve attended Stuart Elementary School and Blair Junior High School. After graduating from Maury High School in 1984, he attended Old Dominion University. During his teenage and early adult years, Steve worked at the Harbor Club for more than 12 years. This is where he discovered his passion for cooking as a sauté restaurant chef. Steve had an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed helping others. This led to him establishing his own landscaping and handyman business.
Steve was a devoted and active member at Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church. He served in the Media Ministry, Culinary Ministry, Music Ministry, Parking Ministry, and the Gideon Men’s Ministry. He sang with the Men’s Choir, Celebration Choir, Praise Team, and took on Sexton duties. He was gifted in song writing. Steve was a proud graduate of Gethsemane’s Foundation Of Faith Leadership Institute’s Class of 2013. Steve loved the Lord and honored Him in praise, worship, and service.
Steve loved sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Also, Steve really loved to sing and never shied away from contributing his tenor voice whenever music was being played, often singing the harmony melody.
Left to cherish Steve’s memory are his parents, Frank and Delphine Claude of Norfolk, VA; one son, Bryan Taylor (Queen) of Portsmouth, VA; one daughter, Amanda Bell of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers Garth (Alenda) of Manassas, VA and Michael (Chasity) of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, Tracy, Jaiden, and Janiya; nieces, Camryn, Gianna, and Isabella; nephews, Austin and Parker; several aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.

January 3, 2025 at 11:03 amSelena and the entire family members: I am so sorry about the passing of your loved one. I didn’t know him but I can tell he was a “remarkable” man who was smart, loved the Lord, loved his family and the list goes on and on. He definitely did some wonderful things and was definitely a talented man. I know you all are missing him already. His memories will live in your hearts forever. Rest in HEAVEN Stephan.

January 3, 2025 at 11:42 amTo the parents of Stephan: Having lost my son (my only child) 33 years ago, I can truly relate to the pains in your hearts. We as parents think our children will bury us – not us bury them. There are so many things that change our lives when this happens. It leaves emptiness in your lives, pains in your hearts, and the list goes on and on. You hope to wake up and it’s just a dream. Then reality sets in and so many things change. My son has been gone for 33 years – I miss him everyday. Love leaves memories that no one can steal. But these memories will live in your hearts FOREVER. Death leaves heartaches that no one can heal. Cherish the love you shared, the good times you had, the storms of life that you weathered together and the JOY that he brought to you. I will be thinking of you in days and months to come. Lean on your faith as GOD takes this walk with you. Sending lots of love and hugs to you and your entire family. Take care of yourselves.
