My heart goes out to the family of Simon Hodnett.

Simon was an student-athlete and assistant track coach at Norfolk State University. He was a kind, energetic, smart and helpful young man who gave of his time and service to the program. He was dedicated and loyal and was always ready and “on-time” to assist in any way he could. Plus he could cook. He could prepare any dish you could think of and it was outstanding.

Simon always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. He will be missed, but God had a better plan.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of our beloved, Simon. His loss is truly devastating and please know our family’s thoughts are with Simon’s son and the remainder of his family in this difficult time. Simon was more than just a friend but like a big brother to my & my sisters and like a son to my mother, Bernadean. We will forever remember his contagious sense of humor and are thankful for the MANY cherished moments we shared with him over the years. As we mourn this profound loss, let us be reminded of the laughter, the wisdom, and the love Simon generously shared with us all. He has sown seeds of goodness in people’s hearts, seeds that we will continue to cultivate as we remember him.

    With heartfelt condolences,
Lynnette Griffin & The Woodhouse Family

I wish I had known him longer, better and when life was different for the both of us. But there was a reason to the timing and the length of time when our paths crossed. His life before that moment and since have impacted me, and I will remember Simon for a long time. My prayers for comfort and healing to those he loved dearly, and especially to his sister of the heart, Angie.
