For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:8 (NKJV)
Shirley Zenobia Green Britt was born on April 26, 1939, to the late Annie Green in Norfolk, Virginia. She received her education through the Norfolk Public Schools. She peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by family.
In 1959, Shirley married the late Charles Britt, Sr. (Deceased), and together they were blessed with eight children: four daughters: Denise Green–Funderburk (Deceased), Anita Britt Godley (Deceased), Shirley Britt Harper, and Zina Diane Britt and four sons: Charles Lee Britt, Jr., Rodney Britt (Deceased), Tracy (Allison) Britt, and Darren Romaine Britt.
Though Shirley spent a short time working outside the home, she was dedicated to raising her eight children and nurturing her grandchildren. She touched many lives with her kindness, and her memory will live on through her family. Shirley will always be remembered for her great cooking skills, cherished family gatherings, and the life stories she shared. Shirley loved playing cards with her family and circle of friends.
As we reflect on her legacy, she leaves behind a rich family history. Let us remember the lessons she imparted and the joy she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever live on in the memories we hold dear, uniting her children, grandchildren, and great–grandchildren.
Cherished memories will remain in the hearts of her five children, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great–grandchildren, eleven great–great–grandchildren, relatives, and a host of friends.

October 16, 2024 at 2:55 pmTo the Britt Family, my condolences. I’m so sorry for your lost, stay close to each other as you grieve the lost of your mom. I lived next door to Shirley on Charlotte Street (TWP) for many years. We would sit out on the front porch, laughing and talking, she was truly a good neighbor. I had the chance to speak with her a few months ago, I’m glad I did. I have fond memories of Shirley, she was full of smiles, and after talking with her, nothing much had changed. She will be missed. Rest In Paradise Shirley, you earned 🙏 it.
Love ❤️

October 20, 2024 at 3:11 pmLet me start by saying that when Mrs. Shirley and her family to Tidewater Park, it was never the same!! I loved every single moment shared running from her house to mine and with Zina doing the same at my house! Mrs. Shirley had a loud bark, but a loving and gentle spirit. I loved when she sent Zina and I to People Drug Store to get her a cherry-coke soda! Some days we would drink it and go back in the store acting like we dropped it so we could get another one!! 😃. Rest in peace Mrs. Shirley and give my mom Alma a big hug and kiss from me. ♥️♥️
