On December 11, 2018, Our Heavenly Father called His daughter, Shirley B. Williams home. “Granny,” as she was affectionately called, was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was born May 26, 1937, to the late Joseph and Alice Atkins. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Leroy Williams.
She leaves one daughter, Phyllis Gilliam; three sons, Willie (Sharon), Jerry, and Vernon Hannah; one sister, Josephine Fields; two special granddaughters, Shirina and Ciera; one special niece, Shirley; a very special nephew, Romano Atkins; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Granny loved to cook and entertain her family and friends, especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving. her home was always warm and welcoming to all who knew her. It was filled with laughter and love, and if you could get to the table before Sandy Hardy or (late) Rick Lamb, Sr. you stood a good chance to get something good to eat.
Granny also loved her pastor, Reverend Gregory Chapman, Sr. If you wanted a good fight, say something bad about her Reverend Chapman.
