Shep Floyd was born December 8, 1961, and was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. Where he attended Indian River High School and played as a member on the basketball team. He was the preceded by his Father Shep Floyd and Mother Hazel Burwell with proceeding siblings; Diane, Alfred, The Twins, George, Melvin and Willie Floyd. Along with surviving siblings Carolyn Henry (Edward), Timmy, Milton, and Wayne (Gina) Floyd. Shep also left behind two sons, Megale and Vincent (Ashley) Beamon, and grandchildren, Daeshanea, Makiyya, Makari, Vincent, Jr., Mahkal Beamon, Arion Johnson, Monte’and Sanai Chesson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shep was in the profession of laying concrete for over 10 years, and he enjoyed his labor of work. Shep was a Member of Faith Deliverance, where he joined the church and gave his life to Christ.
Shep loved to party, hang out, play cards and dominoes. If it had to do with having a good time, he was down for the vibe. Anybody that knew Shep personally would know he was all about a dollar. Just call him the “money man”. He had a generous heart; if he had it to give, he would give with no problem.
He was the definition of a strong man. He fought a good fight for 2 years up until his last day of life. If strength were a person, it would definitely be him. He will always be remembered by his smile, the way he talked; oh, and who can forget that walk? A few of his favorite lines we won’t ever forget is “Fire It Up I Know You Got It” – “I Smell It Where It’s At” – “ Hey Niecy Niecy” Or “What’s Up Nephew” One thing we know for sure is Shep will be greatly and deeply missed.
