Shelia Yvonne Bland

Sunrise: October 3, 1955

Sunset: September 3, 2021

On October 3, 1955, the late Doris Edney Bland welcomed her second born child Shelia Yvonne Bland. And on September 3, 2021, Shelia was welcomed and embraced back into the loving and waiting arms of our Heavenly Father. Her struggle with sickness was finally over and the victory is hers, a life free of pain and the sorrows of this world. Shelia had a keen sense of humor. She often teased her nieces about their hair or something they were wearing. Sometimes we did it purposely so she could say something smart. One of her favorite past time was talking to her aunt and uncle and eating McDonald’s hot apple pies! Shelia attended Norfolk Public School and Norfolk State University where she obtained her master degree in social work. Shelia embarked upon several jobs, which was a running joke in the family “Where is Shelia?” WORKING! LOL. Shelia loved her family tremendously and there was nothing she would not do for each and every one of them. Shelia is now rejoicing with her sisters and love ones. We will miss her loud laugh, late birthday day cards (lol) and her chicken drop offs for all occasions!

Those lovingly left to cherish precious memories are her devoted brother James Bland (Mary) her nieces Sherry Tyson (Michael) Stephanie Bland Stacey Hayes (Terrance) her nephew James Anderson (Teresa) Cory Bland her great nieces and nephews, Tiffany Tyson, Tia Tyson, Jazmine Copeland, Jada Copeland, Destiny Bland, Terrance Hayes Jr. Kristian Anderson, Kamron Anderson. Three aunts Doris Lamb and Mahalia Clark Helen clark two uncles Earl Clark and Reverend John Savage. Shelia had three special nieces that she adored, Johana, Illiya and Addison; and her dear friend that was there until her departure Marsha Johnson. And a great host of loving cousins.

    Ms. Bland, (aka – Berkley)

    There are no sufficient words to describe my feelings at present;
    let alone how I feel about you. I’m reminiscing about the love, the caring, the sharing, the fussing and the fun banter that we shared almost daily in, around and outside of the work place! Let me not leave out the prayers both spoken and those uttered in silence along with tears and moments of celebration be it about you, me or my girls that you never failed to inquire about! 😊

    Who, in these cold and silent hallways will fill that void now that you have truly “left this building”???????

    NO ONE. 😢

    I bless GOD for having known you and to have experienced the gentleness of your spirit and the kindness of your heart through words, action and deeds.

    Receive your rest as it has truly been earned!🌹

    Love you always!
    Until………………
