Shelia Jean Jones affectionately called “Jean” was born August 31, 1958 in Kinston North Carolina. Shelia Jean took her wings on April 16, 2021 at Maryview Medical Center Portsmouth. She received her General Education Diploma and later attended Key Business college where she studied accountant.
Shelia Jean was not ashamed of hard work as she successfully completed every task in the workforce to include Gwaltney, Wal-mart and Norfolk Navy Shipyard, dedicating 20 years and one month of her life to the Department of Defense. Apart from working, Jean was a no-nonsense woman with a smile that ignited a room. She understood struggle but enjoyed the finer things in life. She was an avid giver and presented herself in such a manner of grace, with confidence and style. Shelia Jean will always be remembered for making her family laugh, and her favorite saying was “ y’all are going to miss me when I’m gone”.
Shelia Jean leaves to carry out her legacy, her son Carlton Anderson (Sylvia Anderson) of Richmond, VA, Timothy Jones of Portsmouth, VA, and Danielle Jones-Lee (Demetrius Lee) of Portsmouth, VA. Also left to mourn is her grandchildren De’Quan Jones-Lee, RaeDymond Murphy, De’Monte Lee, Derek Lee, Malachi and Tymoni Jones, all of Portsmouth VA. Her great-grandchildren Jalilah Murphy- Burden and Raevon Murphy.
Shelia Jean also leaves to cherish her memories five sisters and three brothers. Luther Morris Jr., Barbara Turner (Wayne Turner), Ethel Tyndall (Ricky Tyndall), Dorothy Cuffee, Lavern Davis, Elias Morris, Johnnie Morris (Wanda Morris), and Marie Boone all of Portsmouth, VA.
Shelia Jean was proceeded in death by her loving mother Elmer Morris and her father Luther Morris Sr. She has a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as co-workers and friends.
We are honored that God has blessed us with such a loving and compassionate woman. She never gave up no matter the obstacles set before her. We all love you Jean. Thank you for your strength and lessons that will be remembered. We cherish you in our hearts! May you continually rest in peace Shelia Jean to many and to her children “Mom”.
