Sean was like a brother to me for a huge part of my life. He helped me through some
tough times just by being the good friend that he is. I’ve never met anyone like him before and am thankful, and blessed that God brought our paths together. Sean, you will be missed by many, especially me…until we meet

I met Sean in the late spring of 1996. He was a recent graduate of Longwood University and part of the Career Commitment program to give teaching contracts early in the year to outstanding teacher candidates. Sean also assumed the role of the first gymnastics coach at Hickory High School. He was a master coach and I enjoyed watching him take his team to not only regional competition but also state competition. Sean cared about people. I was honored to be his principal at Hickory High. Sean was an asset to Hickory and I am sure he has that beautiful smile on his face in heaven. God bless his family and give them comfort.

My donut eating partner, so sorry to hear of your passing. RP and I are telling stories of you and smiling and laughing–but there is a (non donut sized) hole in our hearts knowing we will not see you this summer in VA Beach, but will look for you beyond: we owe each other some hugs! Such fun to sub at Hickory and finally meet you, more fun to get you hooked up with us and get you working in China! We had a great time on our regular runs to Sea World. Thank you for your service and support of military kids at Yokosuka. Touched so many lives, for sure. Forever ( with us, sweet Sean! xo Missy Klopfer and RP Kale Chesapeake/Shekou/SouthCarolina

Sean was a good friend to me during my time working in Japan. Especially once the world was on lockdown. He was my quarantine buddy. We spent many hours cooking, eating, and watching those awful horror movies he loved ed so much. Great memories. You will be missed Sean.

Sean and I worked together at Hickory High School for ten years. He was a man of integrity. Sean was the only person who truly “had my back.” I will always love him for that. Rest in peace dear man.

I know it has been said but it bears saying again. My heart had a special place for Sean. We worked together at Kinnick High School in Yokosuka, Japan, both special education teachers. Sean’s gentle and kind nature made students see him as a soft place to land when they were scared or stressed. And he was my go-to person when I needed to vent to a trusted soul. Sean, your struggles are over. Rest in peace and know you touched many lives. People walked away from crossing your path feeling better. May we all do as much.
