Sarah A Hill, 60, gained her wings on October 10, 2018. She was born in Chesapeake, Virginia to Ella Reese and William Patterson Jr. Sarah called the Deep Creek area home before joining the Navy and eventually settling in Virginia Beach. Sarah dedicated the last 24 years to the Portsmouth Police Department as a respected Dispatcher and Supervisor. Left to share her memory are her children, Walter and Erica Hill and her partner in love and life, Michael Avant. Also lifting her up are her two grandchildren, cherished nieces, nephews and cousins, and a beloved Aunt and Step Father. As the oldest of 5, Sarah’s younger brothers are left to carry on memory of their childhood.

    Ms. Sarah was my supervisor while I was at PPD. We had some great times and conversations. She will truly be missed. Prayers of comfort to her family

    Sarah Hill was a great friend to myself and my mother. She is also the reason I applied to PPD and woeked there for 12 years. She will be greatly missed.My thoughts and prayers go out to her entire family.

    Sarah Hill was my first supervisor in the Portsmouth Police Department dispatch office after being released for solo duty. She was an amazing person with a heart of gold and I learned a lot from her. She will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hill family.

    She will be missed. Sarah was my first trainer back in the late 90’s. I learned a lot from her. I am sure she was a great supervisor as well. Condolences and prayers to all her friends and family.

    Sarah used to work for me when I was her Supervisor & I also worked for her.She was a very dedicated & professional employee and friend. I will missed her smile & her dedication to the PPD as well as all her other friends. May the LORD Bless her family & friends an surround them with HIS Love & comfort them at this time of grievance and loss.
