Sarah A. Hill

Sarah A Hill, 60, gained her wings on October 10, 2018. She was born in Chesapeake, Virginia to Ella Reese and William Patterson Jr. Sarah called the Deep Creek area home before joining the Navy and eventually settling in Virginia Beach. Sarah dedicated the last 24 years to the Portsmouth Police Department as a respected Dispatcher and Supervisor. Left to share her memory are her children, Walter and Erica Hill and her partner in love and life, Michael Avant. Also lifting her up are her two grandchildren, cherished nieces, nephews and cousins, and a beloved Aunt and Step Father. As the oldest of 5, Sarah’s younger brothers are left to carry on memory of their childhood.

    Sarah Hill was my first supervisor in the Portsmouth Police Department dispatch office after being released for solo duty. She was an amazing person with a heart of gold and I learned a lot from her. She will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hill family.
