Sam Ellis, Jr.

The late Sam Ellis, Jr., known to many of his friends and family as “Junior”, was born on April 15, 1948, in Summerville, South
Carolina, to the late Jessie and Sam Ellis, Sr. Sam graduated from high school and after completion, made a decision to join and serve in the United States Army. After completing four years in the Arm Forces, Sam relocated to Brooklyn, NY and started his journey with the Department of Veterans Affair Medical Center. During his career, he met and married his wife of 26 years,
Dorothy Ellis. After serving the VA Medical Center for over 25 years, Sam retired and relocated to Richmond, VA and later on
the Norfolk, VA. He departed this journey of life on August 17, 2018. Sam was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend; and will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish a loving wife, Dorothy Ellis; four children and two bonus children, William Lee, Barbara Lee, Ronald
Ellis, Michael Lee, Annetta Thompson, and Ada Rogers; two sisters, and one brother, Bessie Hawkins, Jerlean Yullie, and
Gregory Ellis; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
