Retired Paraprofessional with the City of Portsmouth and dedicated counselor with the 700 club, sharing the word of God was her passion. She was an avid western fan and loved arts and crafts. She had a beautiful voice and sang in a gospel quartet call the True Lights. Her sense of humor was amazing and there never was a dull moment. Her spirit was sweet, and she loved the Lord with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and in laws. She is survived by her daughters, Kym Madison, Melanie Madison, and Fawn McCrae (Daniel); son, Steven Madison; grandchildren, Wesley Blount, Aaron Madison (Cassandra) Randy Madison (Ebony), Anthony Kniffin, and Brianna Madison; and eight great grand children; and a special family member Chris Gordon.
Ruth was an unwavering believer of Christ with unshakable faith. Surrendering her life to Christ at the age of 19, she sold out for her Lord and Savior with one goal in mind. To one day join the Creator in the kingdom of heaven. Anchored in the Word she eagerly spread the Gospel through song, conversation and deed. Her passion was sharing the word of God with any and all who would allow it, even joining the 700 club as a prayer counselor. One of her favorite sayings was “Oh thank the Lord” and whenever she was given a compliment she’d quickly respond with it’s all because of God. Even in her later years when the dementia took a toll on memories and time, the Word remained clear. Ruth was a prayer warrior who believed God could do
anything if it was within His will. For many years she would talk of her home-going and she knew without a shadow of a doubt that she would see the kingdom of Heaven.
Filled with joy she would say “Heaven is my home I’m telling you and I’m looking forward to it”. St. John 9:4 says I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work. She put her faith to work for a lifetime of days, now that her night has come she can rest in the arms of the Lord……
