On September 15, 2024, Rudolph Anthony Graham, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord.
He was the loving husband of Everlena Graham, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. She was truly the love of his life.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rudolph, better known as “Tony,” attended Fort Lauderdale Public Schools. Tony worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA for many years until he retired. Tony served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Independence where he did two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Boatswain Mate First Class. He often talked about being on a Navy gunboat in the middle of Vietnam and how blessed he was to make it out when so many men did not. He was very proud of his military service.
He was Chairman of the Deacon Board at Solid Rock Baptist Church where he served faithfully until stepping down.
He loved the Washington Commanders (Red Skins) and was a loyal fan. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He took much pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tony is preceded in death by his father Percy J. Smith, Sr.; his mother, Willie B. Smith; and his daughter, Madeline M. Graham.
Tony leaves behind his wife, Everlena Graham, one brother, Percy J. Smith, Jr. His legacy will be carried on by his four remaining children, Kenneth A. Graham (Bonita), Rudolph A. Graham, Jr., Shila Graham-Sykes (Michael), and George Graham (Nisha); and his late daughter’s children whom he raised, Shanta Lymon (Adam) and Shenay Graham. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grands, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
