Roshawn Denise Taylor

Sunrise: April 15, 1969

Sunset: June 17, 2020

On Wednesday, June 17th at 12:20 am, Roshawn Denise Taylor, a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend was called home to be with the Lord. Born April 15th 1969 to the late Patricia Ann Taylor and Curtis Phelps Taylor in Norfolk, Virginia.

Roshawn was educated at Maury High School and attended the Chesapeake Job Corps Center in Harbors Ferry, Maryland. Even though she was an only child, Roshawn loved to hang with all her cousins and play bingo and spades. All her cousins were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. Roshawn was also a die-hard Redskins Fan and loved her team win or lose and loved entertaining family and friends at her home. Especially when hosting sleepovers for her younger cousins.

Roshawn also briefly had a babysitting business and was a good mother figure for the children she watched. She always tried to take care of things on her own telling people “ I got it, I got It” anytime someone asked to help her. We will all miss her big heart, smile, and her laugh. She will truly be missed.

Roshawn was preceded in death by her son Curtis James Lee Taylor; mother, Patricia Ann Taylor; grandparents, Alvania Cherry Speller, Leonard Taylor, Sr. and Rosa Mae Taylor. Roshawn leaves to cherish her memory her father, Curtis Phelps Taylor; grandfather, James A. Speller; uncles, James B. Speller (Patricia), MacArthur Speller (Brenda), Douglas Taylor and Curtis Houpe (Michelle); aunts, Priscilla Taylor (Hopdide), Pansie Taylor (Robert), Nettie Ruth Speller, Gloria Backus, Gwendolyn Dunston (Thurman), Joyce Lewis (Jearl); her favorite cousin, Rose Taylor, Devone “Tiny” Taylor, Shell Brooks, Renee White, Racquel Lewis, Rotia Pitts, Roy Speller, Jr., Lakesha Gregory and a host of cousins and friends.

OMG I’m hurting right now. I didn’t know she passed away last year. My husband and I knew Roshawn from school. Shawn and I were in the same 6th grade class at James Monroe Elementary school. We even attended Maury High until I had to transfer to Granby when I moved a few blocks down from where I lived at the time. She was a really nice and sweet lady, and I’m glad to have known her. May you continue to rest in peace our dear friend. 🙏🏽😪💐
