Rosa Mae Norman

Sunrise: March 19, 1941

Sunset: June 16, 2025

We come together today with heavy hearts, but also full hearts, to celebrate the beautiful life of our beloved mother, sister, friend, and servant of God: Rosa Mae Norman.

Rosa was born and raised in a loving, faith-filled home. She grew up with strong family values, shaped by her parents who instilled in her the importance of faith, hard work, and compassion.

From an early age, she learned how to serve others, not just with her hands but with her heart. She was a devoted sister, daughter, and friend, always stepping in to help, to lift up, and to love. She later built a beautiful life and home of her own. As a mother of four boys, she was our constant – our rock, our counselor, and our greatest cheerleader. She raised her children with grace, discipline, and endless love. Her family was her pride and joy, and everything she did, she did with them in mind. She leaves behind a legacy of love that lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those she nurtured along the way.

Her devotion to the Lord was unwavering. She was a member and also served faithfully in the Phillipi Church of Christ for many years. Serving in the choir, an usher, and also as both a missionary and a committed member of the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She was a woman of prayer and action – someone who didn’t just talk about faith but lived it. Whether organizing outreach, supporting the pastor, or simply being a quiet encouragement to those around her, she exemplified the hands and feet of Christ. She was known for giving her time, her wisdom, and her heart. Whether visiting the sick, helping neighbors, or offering a warm meal to someone in need, she had a way of making people feel seen and cared for.

She also attended Bible College to grow her knowledge of Christ. She went to Business College and school for Stenography. Her work ethic was unmatched as she spent years employed with the following companies: Administrative Assistant with Kuehne & Nagel, Store Manager at Family Dollar, Procurement Administrator with PHARxMOR, Better Business Bureau, and AARP as an Administrative Assistant. Rosa worked with the same dedication and integrity she brought to every part of her life. No matter the job, she gave it her all–not for recognition, but because that’s just who she was. Her coworkers respected her, and many became lifelong friends.

In these final months, we witnessed her strength in a new way – in her stillness, her peace, and the deep love that surrounded her. And while her body may have grown tired, her spirit never did. She was truly a woman of Proverbs 31 – clothed in strength and dignity, and always walking in wisdom. She laughed, she prayed, she loved and she made this world better just by being in it.

As we say goodbye for now, let us carry her legacy forward. Let us love like she did. Serve like she did, and walk with faith like she did. Because to truly honor her life is to live ours in a way that reflects her example. We thank God for her time here with us. Though we miss her deeply, we rejoice in knowing she is resting now in the arms of her Savior, reunited with loved opnes, and watching over us. Rest well, dear mother. Your work is done, your crown is won, and your memory will live on in each of us.

She was predeceased by her parents; James and Mary Norman, sisters Virginia Streets, Annie Jean Norman, and Gloria Norman; brothers, James L. Norman, Edward Norman, Freddie Norman. Rosa leaves to cherish; her children, Al-Lain Norman (Trina), Earnie Norman (Nikki), Sheldon Norman (Crystal), Trent Norman (Nicky), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters, Alma Norman and Linda Mays (Frank), a whole host of family, and special friends.
