Rosa Bell Smith

Rosa Bell Smith, of the 1000 block of Hatton Street in Norfolk, Virginia passed away on December 17, 2024. She was 94 years old. She was born in Washington,  Beaufort county, North Carolina on February 13, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Smith and her parents, Daniel and Mary Blount. Out of ten siblings, only one, Judy Mae Blount, survives. She was the mother of six children. She had five daughters and one son. She was predeceased by one daughter, Connie Collins.

She was a homemaker. Being a child of the Great Depression, she was always frugal. She was stylish and beautiful. Her country saying still delight her family. She loved sewing, decorating and gardening. Mowing the grass, which she did until she was eighty six, was one of her favorite activities. She a god fearing women, who read her bible. She never forgot to call on God in her illness.

Her surviving children are Rosa Collins of Norfolk, Va, Diane Harris (Phillip) of Sterling, Va; Patricia Hicks (Ralph) of Jacksonville, Florida; Colleen Lamb (Ricardo) of Norfolk, Va; and Donaya Ashoka (Sue) of Schertz, Texas. She had 11 grandchildren, 22 great grand children and 5 great great grand children. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Her strength, beauty, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
