Sunrise: October 14, 1939

Sunset: July 29, 2024

In the early morning of July 29, 2024, our beloved mother, grandmother, cousin and friend entered into eternal rest with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Overseer Pastor Rosa B. Patterson was born on October 14, 1939 in Norfolk County, Virginia to the late Eugene and Ethel Ross. She attended Crestwood High School and participated in choir, a subject that became her passion.

At an early age, she joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. She was then led to Perry’s Temple Holiness Church, where she received the Holy Ghost. Under the leadership of her mother. Pastor Ethel Ross, Ethel Star Holiness Church was birthed. She served as Assistant Pastor for many years before becoming Pastor. She was then led by the Lord to Pastor Healing Fountain Holiness Church located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The love she had for God and the church combined with her dedication to his word, gave her the strength to stand strong and to hold on to the promises of God. Not only did she love “picking them up and putting them down” (praising God). She loved to sing those praises. Out of her many favorite songs, one come to mind: Oh to be and ready, ready when the Lord shall come, oh to be waiting and watching, waiting for the summons home.

Pastor Rosa Patterson was married to the Jesse Patterson. From this beautiful union, they had four children. As a true and faithful follower of Christ, she ensured that her children too had a spiritual and God-fearing upbringing.

Overseer Pastor Rosa Patterson was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Ethel Ross; her husband, Jesse Patterson; son, Stanley Patterson and her siblings, Velma Copeland, Faye Roberson, Henry Ross, Eugene Ross and Eltrento Ross.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Vonda Bonner, Barbara Patterson and Rosa Patterson (Timothy); five grandchildren, Bryant Patterson of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremy Lamb of Virginia Beach, VA , Shaunell Lattimore of Newport News, VA, Donnell Lattimore of Panama City, FL and Nicole Lattimore Montalvo (Wilson) of Virginia Beach, VA; ten great grandchildren, Wynter Montalvo, Karlos Lattimore, Bryce Patterson, Autumn Montalvo, Elysa Lattimore, Michael Patterson, Netalya Lattimore, Shaun Lattimore, Samaya Lattimore, Casimiro Lattimore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Our hearts were saddened by her departure but we humbly submit to the will of God knowing that she is at rest and is now a part of “That Great Cloud of Witnesses”. Amen

I’m deeply sorry for the lost of the matron of your family. I can hear Pastor Patterson singing, “Can’t you see I’m a new man? Don’t you know I’m a new man? Thank God I’ve moved out of my old house to a brand new life”…May God keep you, strengthen you, and afford you great courage during this trying time.
