After living and working several years in New York, he decided to move to Norfolk, VA, where he worked 33 years with the Norfolk Public School System, until he retired. He was also a member of the Norfolk New Light Lodge No. 96. He joined the New Mt. Olive AME Church in Chesapeake, VA where he was a member of the usher board and a trustee for several years until his health failed. He was a devoted husband, uncle, and brother-in-law.
