October 14, 2021 at 10:10 amI am so sorry for the passing of our dear Romona. I called her Mona. She was my cousin. She was a very independent person and took pride in herself. I remembered that she loved to cook tuna casserole and invited us over to eat when we were younger. I am sending my condolences to the family and hope that your good memories of Mona will bring you comfort. The Bible brings us hope for our dear departed family at John 5: 28 and 29. May the family fine peace and hope in these scriptures.

October 19, 2021 at 6:04 amI remember coming home to Norfolk, and we’d squeeze in some time for a visit. We would play our favorite 45 rpm records and record-albums on the stereo, and we’d sing along to some Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, Al Green, Dee Dee Sharp, Aretha Franklin or The Jackson 5s and The O’Jays. We would dance—The Mashed Potato, The Monkey, The Bump, The Robot, and everybody’s favorite dance; The Electric Slide. I can remember the smells of hot buttered Rolls, Tuna Casserole or a Pot Roast cooking in the kitchen. She had a talent for cooking and the food was delicious. Romona was a joy and dearly loved.
Ray, losing a parent is never easy, may you, your siblings and all of the grandkids find comfort in the lovely memories you all shared and may time heal the sadness that you feel with the loss of your lovely Mother and Grandmother.
During these tough times, know that you and all of the family are in our thoughts and prayer. 🙏🏽
❤

October 14, 2021 at 4:52 pmRomona, a cousin of cousins. Although, older than me, her personality was fun and youthful. She allowed me and Joanne (one of my sisters) to spend time at her house overnight. Let me tell you “Good Times”. We played on the phone, ate well and stayed up all night. As my other sister (Renee) said, Tuna Casserole was definitely one of my favorite dishes Mona prepared. I couldn’t help but smile when I was around her. It’s good to know Romona is no longer in pain. I had the pleasure of talking with her a few weeks back. We both enjoyed our conversation. I think she was happy to hear that death will be done away with. The same discussion we had hopefully, will bring a measure of comfort to our family now. She will be missed until we see her again.

October 14, 2021 at 8:02 pmTwo thing about Romona I will always remember and cherish. The dinner party she gave where she introduce us to her yougest kids. Ray her oldest we already knew. And a dance party she through for all the kids in her area (before her kids were born). And she encourage me to dance publicly for the first time. I still laugh about today
She had a large large heart and that’s why I know Acts 24:15 has a hope for her in the Bible. And the author of the Bible can be a sure hope and comfort to you. When times seem the darkest call to him. His name is Jehovah. And ask for the comfort you need in his son’s name Jesus Christ. And you will feel and see the true of 2 Corinthians 1:3,4
Romona, your Mother, my cousin will be missed in my heart and every remember that I have of her. But it those same memories I know I will see her again as brought out in John 5:28.

I am truly sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Minns. I met Mrs. Minns working at Larchmont Elementary School. She was a wonderful, kind, loving and generous person. She helped when, where and how, at all times, for the benefit of the students. She truly was a gift that will definitely be missed. Praying for the family that God will comfort you during this time of your loss. May her love be your legacy.

October 16, 2021 at 4:35 pmTo the family of Ms. Minns, I am so deeply saddened for your loss. I met Ms. Minns at Larchmont, she was a dedicated hard working lady who enjoyed work. I could tell where Minns was in the building or where she had been by the smell of her perfume. I would give her a ride home from work with no charge but she demanded to give me something because she was a proud woman who paid her way. We would talk about our children,grand- children and our sleep overs on the way home. I truly miss Minns but she is in a better place. May God grant her family peace and please remember everything heals in time.

October 16, 2021 at 10:31 pmTo the family of my friend Ramona Minns I met Ramona years ago at Monroe elementary school while visiting my son Sterling in the 94-95 school year. We shared a friendship that had no end. Even though I lived in Pennsylvania and she in Virginia we kept close contact. She had such a kind sweet spirit that only God can give. You got your wings and flew away. Your leaving is our loss and heavens gain. I will miss you my friend and thanks for looking out for my son while he was in Virginia and sharing your love and kindness with us. Gone but never forgotten. Your friend Rev. R. Mim Roberts Harvey. Until we meet again. Thank you Reggie for being so kind. Love to you and family.

October 18, 2021 at 3:32 pmTo the Minns/ Holliday Family: My heart is still aching at hearing of the death of Ramona. I had not spoken with her for quite some time but I have very fond memories of her. I never met most of her family but got to know her twins, Michelle and Donnelle as well as two of her grandchildren, Ray and Semiyah. I met Ramona through my son, Quenton. Quenton was Donnelle’s big brother in the Big Brother Mentoring Program. I also remember attending school programs with Ramona when Ray and Semiyah were in elementary school. I will never have a doubt in my mind that she truly loved her family. It is my prayer that the love of God will be your strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead. May God bless all of you! With sincerity and Christian love,
Josephine Linyear

October 19, 2021 at 9:00 amMy sincere condolences to Ray Jr (Man), Reggie, Michelle and Donnel. I’m going to really miss you Aunt Ramona. You had such a BIG HEART and would always call and or text to check on me and the family. You were always asking if we needed anything and I will always remember that. Your cooking was one of the best and me and Ray Jr (Man) were always going back for seconds and thirds especially during the holidays when you showcased your cooking skills! Your home was always a safe haven. Man and I always reminisce and laugh about the days of he and I hanging out to the wee hours of the morning and you fussing at us when we’d wake up in the morning on your couch! I am truly going to miss your snippy comebacks which always made me laugh, and your motherly concern for my well-being as well and the love you always showed me and of course your cooking!! I love you and will miss you (Aunt Romona)!

My prayers of comfort and peace to the entire family. May you always remember she loved you all with a heart that was overflowing. Everything she did was for all of you.
Now, Romona, I know you’re close by so I want to remind you of the love we shared as friends at James Monroe Elementary School. October 20, 2021 at 11:19 amRomona there are so many things to remember you for; 29th Street loved your parties with the DJ. To this day I make your tuna casserole one of my favorite dishes you cooked. I am thankful we both had the opportunity to speak one last time while you were in the hospital and you were still true to yourself with those doctors as you would say “no doubt”. May God give the family Peace and Comfort during this time and all the fond memories to cherish.
