Rodney Dean Ferebee was born on March 6, 1959, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to his birth mother, Daisy Miller. He was lovingly raised by the late Herbert and Irene Ferebee, who nurtured him throughout his formative years. A proud graduate of Indian River High School’s Class of 1976, Rodney began his collegiate journey at St. Paul University before enlisting in the United States Army. During his military service, he completed numerous tours, exemplifying dedication and honor.
Affectionately nicknamed “Teapot” for his prowess on the basketball court, Rodney was passionate about sports. He excelled as a high jumper and hurdler in track and field and remained an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Knicks. Rodney was a man of quiet strength, deeply committed to excellence, particularly within the Black community. Known for his punctuality, resourcefulness, and ingenuity, he had a remarkable talent for technology and could fix almost anything.
His deep affection for family, especially children, was a hallmark of his character. Known fondly as “Uncle-Daddy,” Rodney’s sharp wit and comforting presence made him a beloved figure among friends and relatives. He was a true servant leader, always putting others before himself, and his everyday life reflected his unwavering love for his family.
Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Williams, and his sister, Lilly Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Daisy Miller; his brothers, Fred Smith and Darnell (Patsy) Miller; his sister, Tridell Miller. His bonus sisters, Linda Farmer and L’Tanja Clark, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Among his many cherished relationships, his bond with his great-great-nephew, little Adonis Frederick, held a special place in his heart. Rodney’s legacy of love, service, and excellence will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

December 3, 2024 at 9:41 pmRonnie was a gentleman to the highest degree. Always wore a bright smile coupled with a cool calm demeanor. As young men we had many battles on the basketball court but always left as sportsman.
He will be deeply missed.
