Roberta Lyles

Roberta Lyles-Hankins, our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, departed this life on Tuesday, August 2nd at 10:30 am.

Roberta was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. She retired from Navy Lodge NEX where she worked for over 20 years. She also worked for Chow Hall on the Norfolk Base for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family, laughing, listening to music, dancing, and watching CNN. She was a joy to have around, and she will truly and deeply be missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Louise Lyles and Grover Lyles. Her brothers, Thomas Lyles, Cecil Lyles, Terry Lyles, Bernard Lyles, and sister Lilliemae Lyles, niece Angela Diggs, father-in- law Willie Hankins and mother-in-law Mary Hankins.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Kenneth Hankins, two sisters, Lucille Lyles, and Edna Hankins (Sylvester). One brother, Paul Lyles (Goldie). Sister in laws Barbara Christian (Larry), Virginia Everett-Hankins, Jeanette Griffin (Moses). Brother-in- Law Sylvester Hankins (Edna). Stepsons Kenneth Edwards (Natasha), Keenan Smith Hankins, Devon (DJ) Banks (Edriner). Nephews, Trent Lyles (Amy), Julius Lyles (Janice), and Theodore Wynn (Shannata). Nieces, Lily Lyles, Tina Lyles, Candace EvanS (Keyontay), Tatina Lyles, and Lamesha Hammond (Kevin). Great nieces Vanisha and LaTisha Diggs. Great nephews Terrance and Terrell Diggs, Shymeek, Alex and Xavier Lyles. She also leaves a host of other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

    To the greatest Aunt, to ever walk this earth! Your love can never be replaced, your heart was a pure as gold, your smile was a mile long and the aura you casted lasted a lifetime. I can not tell you how you have touched us all. You left an indelible impression that canโ€™t be mimic by anyone. Your walk among us was an inspiration and I thank for you all the things you have said and the things that were left unsaid. You graced us as a great womanโ€ฆ..a titan for all to see. And I know and feel that this isnโ€™t goodbye but see ya. Until we meet again, know we will always hold you tight in our hearts! Thanks for your time and the memories!

    My Deepest condolence to Kenny Hankins and entire Hankins and Lyles Family. We all will miss Mrs. Roberta and know her home going will bring special moments and thoughts to the family hope that we remember the loving memories she shared with us all.
