Roberta Lee Smith won the jackpot of all time. The alert went off on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She had won BIG time. She entered into the arms of Our Lord & Savior.
Roberta was born to the late Clara & Albert Harrell on October 19, 1940, in Norfolk, VA.
Roberta received her education through the Norfolk Public School system. In her early years, she was employed at Norfolk General in dietary. Later in life, she retired from The Ballentine as a dietary aide.
Roberta was a sweet, loving, caring, kind-hearted soul. Her favorite thing to do was play her numbers and go to the casino. She played day and night numbers. If they had midday, she’d probably play them too. When she wasn’t physically at the casino, Roberta loved her tablet, which was filled with casino games and puzzles. She would sit in her chair and play until the battery died. It didn’t stop there, though; Roberta had a backup tablet. She wanted to win it all!
Roberta was predeceased by her husband, Robert Smith; her brothers, Albert, Charlie, Ernest, William (Gladys), and her twin, Robert (Diane) Harrell; her sisters, Mildred Harrell & Ruby (Barry) Anderson; and her grandson, Antawyn Smith.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memories her five children, Alan Smith of Norfolk, VA, Darlene Smith-Taylor of Norfolk, VA, Cathy (Theodore) White of Chesapeake, VA, Robert Smith, Jr. of FL, and Lisa Smith of Norfolk, VA; ten grandchildren, Alan (Tera) Thornton, Kimberly Strand, Christina (Ralph) Brea, Antonio Smith, Tiffany White, Alaina King, Alisha Smith, Hezekiah White, La’Bron Smith, and La’Dasia Smith; twenty-two great-grandchildren, thanks to Lil Alan & Antonio; five great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Roberta will be missed dearly, but we understand; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
