Robert Lee “Rob” Robinson, 88, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was born in Emporia, VA, on April 19, 1936, to the late Johnny and Pattie Hicks Robinson. To this union, four children were born. Robert Lee was the last of four children, and all of his siblings, Reathella Moone-Brown, Johnny Robinson, Jr., and Katie Myrick, preceded him in death.
Robert Lee attended Greenville County Public Schools and joined Diamond Grove Baptist Church at the young age of 13. He came to Portsmouth, VA, in 1953 and worked for the Coca-Cola Plant until he became a heavy-duty gantry crane operator for the Norfolk Naval Base until he retired in July 1999.
In July 1956, he married Rosa Lee Brown, and she preceded him in death in July 2001. In July 2000, Robert Lee became the proud father of a baby boy, Jonathan Robert Lee Robinson, who instantly became the love of his life and a son whom he cherished for the rest of his life.
Robert Lee was a lover of fast cars, which was evident in the ’72 Bright Yellow Grand Torino, which he rebuilt and would cruise around town while being dressed to impress. He also loved football, and he would travel up north several times a year to watch his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the NY Giants, play.
Robert Lee Robinson leaves to cherish his memories with his son, Jonathan Robert Lee Robinson, along with his Caregivers: Greta Grier, Keith Moone, and Earnest Myrick.
He is predeceased by his niece, Dorothy White. He also left to cherish his memories his nieces, Greta Grier (CA), Tracy Robinson & Faith Mitchell (Portsmouth, VA); his nephews, Earnest and Bernand Myrick (Chesapeake, VA), Nhoj Myrick (Portsmouth, VA), Coady Moone (Outer Banks, NC), Marvin Moone (Las Vegas, NV), Keith Moone (Suffolk, VA), Darryl Moone (Gainesville), Antonio Robinson (MI); his loving step-sisters, Deloris Vincent and Joyce Wyche (Emporia, VA) and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Robert Lee is also survived by long-time supportive friends Robert Boone and Stacy Wilson, along with a host of other loving, caring friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
