Robert Lee Council

Sunrise: March 20, 1965

Sunset: December 27, 2023

On the evening of December 27, 2023, our hearts were saddened by the sudden loss of our beloved one and friend, Mr. Robert “Raheem” Council, so affectionately known as “Bud or Sergeant” to his family and friends.

Robert Lee Council graced the world with his presence on Saturday, March 20, 1965 in Suffolk, Virginia. Born to parents Willie Mae and Robert Lee Council, he was the sixth child out of ten children. He was a dedicated and loving, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Robert was a smart and determined entrepreneur. He did not allow his environment to determine his choices in life. He earned his G.E.D while attending Job Corp in Maryland. Shortly afterwards he attended the University of Maryland and Howard University. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and Business Management.  His zeal for success motivated him to establish his own Traffic Controller business called Council Industries, LLC located in Washington D.C.

A common theme throughout his life was caring for family and others in his special way. He will be missed for his kind and generous heart, soft-spoken tone, love of playing basketball and listening to music. Robert was a diehard New York Giant’s fan.

Robert’s body is merely a shell. His spirit will forever live on. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Tamia Morris and Asiaona Terry; one grandson, Rahkim Jr.; his siblings, Verlinda, Myrtle (McKinley), Rosemary, Robin, Ethoria (Lisa), and Corey; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts and  friends he loved dearly. Robert was predeceased by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Council; son, Rahkim, Sr.; sisters, Brenda, Sebrina, and Cora; cousin, Harry; nephews, LeKwon, Xavier, and Javontae.
