Robert Lee Boyce

Sunrise: January 18, 1952

Sunset: September 13, 2022

Robert Lee Boyce quietly transitioned to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. He was born to the late Russell Skinner and Dorothy Boyce in Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his three brothers Clifton Boyce, Charles Boyce, and Clyde Boyce. Robert was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and worked as a plasterer for many years after.

Affectionately known as “Rob”, “Ricky Montez”, “The Governor”, and many others over the years, Robert was ONE OF A KIND! He was a comedian, connoisseur (specifically of his stylish clothes and reggae music) and a true lover of his “medicine”. Rob was well-known in the streets of Berkeley and the Campostella, where he ran in his younger years with the Magnificent 7 aka “The Field Boys”. The word NO was never in Rob’s vocabulary, especially when it came to his children. If nobody knew anything else about Rob, they knew that his children meant the world to him. Rob was a true family man and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Rob was a TV fanatic, as he had a few favorite shows to include his Westerns and Take 1 on Sports Center.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Sharonda Sanderlin (Lionel), Brittany Boyce; four sons, Robert Boyce, Jr. Kenton Sanderlin, Darren Sanderlin (Deirdre), and Kenneth Sanderlin; four grandchildren: Ashiyah Sanderlin, Makayla Sanderlin, Mikiyah Sanderlin, and Kenton Sanderlin Jr.; five sisters, Diane Johnson, Darline Boyce, Doreen White, Lisa Skinner-Spellman (Ronald) and Lisa James; one special aunt Isabelle Roscoe, two special nephews, Chris Jones and Melchasade Chandler; a special friend, Rosyln Walker and “Rasta-Coop”, and a host of other siblings, family and friends.
