On Sunday, June 16, 2019, God whispered in our dear Robert Earl Wilson, Jr. ear and said, “It’s time to come home.” Robert answered his
call while resting at Norfolk Riverview Pavilion. Robert was the youngest of four children born to Robert and Edna Wilson. Robert was born on June 18, 1934. He received his early education at John T. West Elementary School and graduated from the historical Booker T. Washington High School. Robert enlisted in the United States Army directly after high school where he played on the army football team. Robert retired from the City of Norfolk with 30 years of service. He was the supervisor of the maintenance department. Robert enjoyed attending Norfolk State University games and traveling with his cousin and friend Vernell Everett and Bro Cox.
He was predeceased by his parents, and three sisters; Shirley Lemmon, Vivian Blocker, Catherine Wilson and his grandson, Terrence Carter. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gwendolyn Wilson, four daughters; Tonie Wilson – Poynter, Terry Wilson-Carter, Glenda Wilson and Myra Wilson, four sons, Tiran Wilson, Todd Wilson, Glen Wilson and Mark Wilson, sister, Marion Beamon, twenty three grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren. Robert’s life is treasured, and death is mourned by his five nieces; Edna Wilson, Wanda Purris, Angela Palmer, Kimberly Bright, and Marlene Beamon, three nephews; Melvin Blocker, Sidney Lemmon and Nashid Rahman, and a host of family and friends.
