Richie Allan Hinton, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was born on May 4, 1959, in Manilla, Arkansas, to Jewel Black and the late Prentis Hinton. Richie was the middle child of his siblings.
Richie grew up in Dell, Arkansas where he was educated in the Dell City school system and was a 1977 graduate of Dell High School in Arkansas. Following graduation, Richie was employed at Nibco as a Lab Technician. While working at Nibco, he met the love of his life, Patricia Williams. They both relocated to the Tidewater area of Virginia and were married.
Richie continued to pursue his education and career by attending ITT Technical Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he received an Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. His degree in Electronic Engineering Technology landed him employment at Northwest and Delta Airlines. Richie was currently employed by Checkered Flag Honda, Norfolk, as a parts delivery driver and owned his own lawn business for which he took great pride.
Richie was a happy and generous man who loved helping others and would give you anything that he had without expecting anything in return. He was quick to make friends and never met a stranger. Richie enjoyed multiple sports such as golf, basketball, and football. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorback football team fan. He was adventurous, loved having fun and was a dancing machine (or so he thought). Whenever Richie was around, he was always the life of the party. He was a great friend and very patient guy. There are those who will remember how Richie helped to take care of them and to nurse them back to health. Richie will always be remembered for his infectious personality and smile. Most of all, Richie was a family man, a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Richie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Winston and Alberta Black; father, Prentis Hinton; siblings, Winston Black Jr, Cedric Hinton, Judy Hinton, Gregory Hinton, Joel Hinton, and Michael J. Hinton.
He leaves to celebrate his life and loving memories: His loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Patricia Hinton of the home; children, Skylar Hinton and Kaelen Hinton of Norfolk, VA; mother, Jewel Black, Buffalo, NY; siblings, Joyce Lewis (Robert), West Memphis, AR; Pamela Johnson (Mark), Buffalo, NY; Larry Black, Blytheville, AR; Vernice Black, Harriet Black and Gloria Black, Atlanta, GA; Krystle Hinton, Anthony Hinton (Elizabeth), Roderick Hinton and Brian Hinton, Buffalo, NY; Mike Brown Hinton, and Marie Brown Hinton, Cleveland, OH; god-daughter, Coral Kendall, Norfolk, VA; one aunt, Mae Stanley, Buffalo, NY; and a host of relatives and friends.

February 18, 2021 at 8:23 pmCousin, I will never forget you being selfless and taking Diamond (her car, clothes, etc.) to Tennessee from Chicago, so that she could move back there. Instead of taking your flight home scheduled from Chicago, you took your flight from Nashville, so that you could help her drive there. (You drove all the way.?) You called me when you all got to BNA and said mission accomplished, Cuz! I was screaming thank you (Cuz) thank you so much! You save the day! She was so happy. I gave you the Cousin of the Year Award on Facebook and I’ve been talking about your selfless act of kindness every since.
I’m going to miss your smile, your humbleness, and us kicking-it at family functions.
Rest in Heaven, Love always,
Val, DJ, and Diamond

February 20, 2021 at 5:16 amIt is so hard to imagine that Richie was called home to be with the Lord. It just seems too soon…too sudden…too young. May the love, the laughter, the joy and all the memories that he shared provide comfort to those he loved and all of us that loved him. Deepest condolences to his family especially his wonderful wife Patricia and his lovely kids Skylar and Kaelen. Please find comfort that he lives on in your hearts and is always there, always near and you are loved by many who will always be here to support you. Wishing you God’s comfort.
