On Monday April 1, 2019 the Lord sent his angels to bring Richard Leon Cotton Jr. (53 years of age) home to be with his
Heavenly Father. Richard, also known as COTTON, was born on January 28, 1966 in Portsmouth Va. to Richard Cotton Sr. &
Carolyn Cotton. Cotton was joined in Matrimony to Tabitha L. Cotton on August 2, 2016. Cotton attended Cradock High School, and was on the wrestling and Football team. Cotton was employed with Master Movers and later moved on to the shipyard. Richard attended Mount Calvary as a young child. He was predeceased by both parents Richard Sr. and Carolyn Cotton.
He leaves to Cherish his memories, his loving wife Tabitha Cotton, son Raquan Artis, grand daugther Ja’Niya Artis, sister Michelle Cotton-Carter (Darrell); a sister from another mother Cynthia, niece, Seaona Cotton, nephew Jamel Cotton, Aunt Costella Ray(Nathaniel); uncle Iterra Spears (Denise); uncle Curtis Spears (Cleo); uncle John Spears (Deloris), stepson
Edward Jones, step-daughter Tamia Jones and her daughter Navayha Jones. Cotton and his family lived in South Side Garden for several years, and was known for having the first and biggest dog named Sage, he was also known for having a barber shop / game room in his mother’s kitchen/den.
Cotton loved to fish and crab, and he was a mean cook in the kitchen. Cotton was a jack of all trades and could fix about
anything!! With all obstacles that were thrown his way Cotton continued to love life and his FAMILY. If you knew Cotton well
then you would know his favorite saying “Whoomp there it is and Blase’ Blase”, and that he LOVED banana pudding. Cotton was loved by all and will truly be missed.

October 21, 2020 at 7:22 am“Poo Pop” as Richard was known and I attended middle school together in the early 80’s and he was a good friend until we moved away. We lived in Academy Park and were inseparable. I also remember Michelle and his mom. We shared some good times back then. Richard, you are missed and may the father comfort your family.
