Reginald A. Smallwood

Reginald Alan Smallwood known as Bae Bae or Uncle Fats by family and friends was born February 8, 1962 in Norfolk County VA (now known as Chesapeake VA) to Mary Elizabeth Mourning and Glen Smallwood which both preceded in death.  He was the youngest of five children and raised in Crestwood area on 201 Grant Street. Reginald departed this life on August 21, 2020.

Reginald graduated from Indian River High School Chesapeake VA in 1980.  He worked for Manning Convalescent Home in Portsmouth VA for 15 years as an Assistant Director of Maintenance.  This is where he met his beloved wife Carolyn Smallwood. Later he went to work for Docc Transportation driving van then promoted to Dispatcher Supervisor for 6 years until his illness.

Reginald join Faith Deliverance Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop Barbara Amos and Pastor Sharon Riley.  He worked with the homeless ministry.

Reginald leaves to cherish his wife Carolyn Smallwood of 25 years. Two daughters; LaShonda Morning (Terry) and Samantha Whitley both of Chesapeake VA. Two granddaughters; Brittany Cooper and Shonterra Morning both of Chesapeake VA. One grandson; Cedric Whitley. Two great grands daughters; Breasia White and Jhermany Blunt. 1 great grandson; Keion Johnson.  Also left to cherish his memory is his three brothers, Gary Smallwood of Dale City, Virginia; William Smallwood (Gwen); and Andy Smallwood (Deborah aka Judy) Robby Sheppard (Gayla); all of Chesapeake, Virginia.  Two aunts, Anette Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland and Peggy A. Moran, Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.

Special thank Byron Smallwood for all his time and effort for caring for his uncle.

To My Husband, who loved me unconditionally.  He would always say I got you.  Even when he was ill, he always worried about me. Even in hospital with a whisper of his voice he told Samantha to go get your mom some food. He always protected and my provided.
