Beyond her teaching, she was a gifted author, creating the beloved book series Merle the Traveling Girl. She proudly published two books and traveled the world for book signings. Always brimming with creativity, she had many more stories in the works and dreamed of turning her books into a children’s show. Regina also had an entrepreneurial mindset and was a successful business owner, running Oceana Dry Cleaners with pride and dedication.

She is survived by her loving husband, Eldon Pumphrey Jr.; her children: son Eldon Pumphrey III and daughters Alexandra Pumphrey and Amanda Pumphrey; and her brother Anthony Payton.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and friends. Regina had a remarkable gift for recognizing the good in people and nurturing their spirits. Her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and love for storytelling will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her. Regina’s life was as vibrant and beautiful as the flowers she adored. We love you, but God loved you more. She will truly be missed, and her legacy of love, creativity, and entrepreneurship will live on in the hearts of many.
Mom, we love you, and you deserve all the credit.
