Mr. Randolph B. Lomax, 76, of Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the comfort of cherished memories and love from his family.
Born on March 10, 1948, in Norfolk, VA, Randolph was the cherished son of the late Ethel Wilson and the late Randolph Lee Lomax. He was also lovingly raised by the late Bubba and Mable Wilson, who, though not his parents, played a profound role in his upbringing and greatly influenced his life.
After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966, Randolph proudly joined the United States Air Force. His final duty assignment brought him to Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA, where he built lasting memories and friendships. Randolph served for 20 years as a medic in the Air Force, dedicating his life to helping others. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his career as a medical technician at Peninsula Psychiatric Hospital and later as a security guard at NASA, retiring from both roles with distinction.
Randolph’s life was defined by his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda Lomax. As a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Randolph’s wisdom, compassion, and strength were the foundation of his family. His example inspired his sons to follow in his footsteps by joining the Air Force, carrying forward his legacy of honor and service.
A vibrant soul with a love for music and dancing, Randolph brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He will always be remembered for his integrity, perseverance, and the boundless love he shared with those around him.
Randolph is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Lomax, of Hampton, VA; his two sons, Randolph B. Lomax, Jr., and Robert B. Lomax; five treasured grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Elmer Stewart; and his sister, Jeraldene Harris. He was preceded in death by his sister, Belver Perry. A host of adoring nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends also mourn his loss.

January 29, 2025 at 11:09 amI will think of Uncle Randolph always, but especially on New Years Eve. His tradition was to call at the stroke of midnight. If I answered the phone instead of Brian, he would tell me that was bad luck, that the man of the house had to be the one to answer. There will never be a New Years Eve to go by that I won’t think of your phone calls. Thanks for being like a dad to Brian. We will always cherish your love and friendship, ‘Uncle Willie’. We love you always.

January 29, 2025 at 3:57 pmTo Linda and the family of Randolph, you have our deepest sympathy. We were saddened to hear of his death and we will miss him, especially when the BTW Class of 1967 get together again. Even though he was in the Class of 1966, we adopted him as our own. He was always one of the first to send in his payment for our reunions. He was one of my favorite dance partners and I’ll miss him.
My condolences to you and your family.
