Ramona Holloway Coley, 86, entered eternal rest on January 10, 2025, after being blessed with a long and fulfilling life. She was born on September 09, 1938, in North Carolina, to Oliver W., Sr. and Emma Holloway, who eventually moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where she was raised. After attending Booker T. High School, she went on to be employed in customer service as a store clerk and started a family with her then-husband, James Coley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver W., Sr. and Emma Holloway. Her former husband, James Coley; her brothers, Alvin and Oliver, Jr.; her son, Graylon Lee; and her daughter, Priscilla Diane.
Ramona was a believer in Jesus Christ. She was full of life and cared deeply for the people around her. With a no-nonsense personality, she said what she meant and meant what she said. She enjoyed having fun with her family and friends, the people she valued the most. She was supportive and made an impact on many lives throughout her lifetime, as she was known for entertaining, throwing cookouts, birthday parties, and social gatherings. Ramona loved dancing and listening to old-school music. Her favorite pastime was watching The Western whenever the opportunity arose. She also enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football, her favorite team being The Los Angeles Dodgers and The Washington Commanders.
Ramona is survived by her son, Nathan (Catherine) Coley; four grandsons, Telly (Carolyn) Coley, Nathan Evans, Donyae Coley, and Cordaro Coley; one granddaughter, Danyell (Allen) Coley; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a special friend Fannie Carol Etheridge and her favorite cousin, Stacy Burrus. Ramona truly lived a life to the fullest through helping others and chatting with friends and family. Being a faithful confidant to numerous people in her life, including family, friends, and strangers. She was a kind, compassionate, generous, loyal, loving, and wise mother and grandmother.
She will be remembered as a family-oriented mother who cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will always be loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
