Queen Ester Woodard of Norfolk, Virginia; adored as “Ms. Queenie” went to be with her Lord & Savior on Friday, December 4, 2020. Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina as “Malqueen” to the daughter of the late Howard and Mattie Green, Queen relocated to Norfolk in the early 50’s with her late husband John Woodard; having eight children.
Ms. Queenie was a devoted spirit of faith and attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church located in Campostella. Ms. Queenie retired from her career as a chef. She enjoyed thrifting, butter pecan ice cream and spending time with the little ones.
She is preceded in death by her brothers/sisters: (Howard) Willie “Bobby” Green, Johnnie Green, Mattie M. Green, Jesse M. Green, Fannie B. Woodard, Louise Dantzler, Howard “Bubba” Green Jr. and daughters Hattie Q and Brenda L. Woodard. She is survived by her children Linda Woodard, Sandra (Mike) Kellam, Sheila (Leroy) Peterson, Carolyn (Bobby) Manning and Wanda Woodard. She leaves to cherish her memories; sister, Rose A. Butler, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grand, 6 great great grand and a host of relatives and friends.
