Phyllis Laverne Blount

On Thursday, October 15, 2020  an angel of the lord wrapped his loving arms around Phyllis Blount and carried her home. She was a native of Portsmouth, VA  and born to Shelvia and the late Ernest Brown on March 30, 1958. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Alisa Gatewood. She was the third born of seven siblings. Phyllis was educated in the Portsmouth School System. Phyllis was retired with 36 years of service with Navy Installations Command ( Co-Op). She also was employed 20 years with Portsmouth Public Schools. She leaves to cherish her memories; mother, Shelvia Brown; sister, Patricia Brown of Charlotte NC; brother, Gary Brown (Lynette) and sister, Shirley Cuffee all of Portsmouth ,VA, sister, Vicky Jennings (Reginald) of Suffolk, VA and brother, Ernest Brown Jr. (Monique) of Warner Robins, GA; cousin (more like brother), Kenneth Wilder of Warner Robins, GA; a special nephew, Andre Gatewood and a host of nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and special friends dear to her heart.

    Phyllis I’m going to surely miss you! You were a loving and faithful friend with a no judgment zone and love for everyone you meet. You shared a lot of wisdom even when I didn’t want to hear it. I’m so glad we got to speak that day.         I have known her since i was 7 yrs….My mom and her mom are best friends..I always called her my Phyllis…I Loved this woman so much…My heart is so broken…I Love you so much and you will truly be missed????

    To my brother, Ernie Brown and his family, my sincerest condolences on your loss. Only met Phyllis a couple of times and spoke to her a few, but she was a genuine person who could make you laugh. Know that she is now serving in the father’s Heavenly Army. She will always be with you. Be blessed!!
