Phillipa Marjorie Beckford 66 years of age, of Magil Palm, St. Catherine and Virgina Beach, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 6:57pm at Sentara Princess AnnHospital, VA.
Phillipa was born on November 17, 1955, to the late Ernest Beckford and Maisie “Ceta” Francis, in Free Hill District, St. Mary, Jamaica. She was the 5th of 8 children, 4 of whom preceded her in death.
After successfully completing the common entrance exams at Free Hill Primary School, she attended St. Mary High school. She then studied at Shortwood Teachers College, specializing in Home Economics, and in later years obtained her MastersDegree from the University of the West Indies.
She worked in different industries such as education and insurance. She spent majority of her professional life at Cuna Caribbean Insurance, until she retired in 2019. She loved traveling, gardening and was an avid reader. She provided service to the public through her years of teaching at Melrose All Age and Tarrant High School, and through her profession in the insurance/credit union industry. She also proudly served as a Distinguished President of the Kiwanis Club of Kingston & St. Andrew.
She leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved her dearly. She is survived by her daughter/sister Nadine, (son/nephew) Odain, her only surviving brother Paul and her sister Andrea (Pat). She also leaves behind, her only surviving aunt (Monica Ferguson), uncle (Vincent “Parkie” Byfield),nieces (Kristen, Marsha, Narja, Paulette and Ordeia), nephews (Andre, BJ, Kedan, Lance, Paul, Omar and Vaughn), grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, lots of dear cousins, and dear friends.
Phillipa was the matriarch of her family. She will be remembered for being a fighter with a fiery spirit, her kindness, her strength, and the impact she had on her family and friends. We will miss her love, advice and support in our lives, but arerejoicing knowing she is at peace.

April 23rd, 2022 – 10am at 45-49 Dunrobin Ave, Kingston 10 at the Christian Fellowship World
Outreach, Inc
Final resting place will be in the family plot in Free Hill District, St. Mary, Jamaica, W.I.
