Phillip Privott, Sr.

Sunrise: September 14, 1959

Sunset: February 19, 2023

If you’re reading this I’ve gone on to join my son in paradise. In my final days I saw my son waving money and telling me he was free so I guess you can say he bribed me into going with him. Y’all know how much I love money!

So I guess you want to know about my life. Well I was a born the baby of five children to the late Roosevelt and Helen Privott on September 14,1959. I was the prettiest baby they had! In my childhood I enjoyed the beach, partying, and just enjoying life. If you know me, you know that never changed. I attended Norfolk Public Schools and later in life learned to be a plumber.

Early in life I was blessed with two children Darryl Love and Vonyelle Porter. To everyone’s surprise I met the love of my life LaCountis and we were married for 43 years. To say I didn’t deserve her is an understatement. We were blessed with three children, a set of twins Phyllis Shepherd (Scott) and the late Phillip Privott Jr. (Robin) and Purvina “Rina” Privott. In life I didn’t let any grass grow under my feet but my family was my everything. Beyond being a father I was Pop Pop of five and also a great grandfather of three.

Don’t mourn me as I am at rest and as you know I lived my life to fullest. When you think of me remember me dancing, joking, laughing, and living life under my own terms. To my kids wrap your arms around your mother and help her to navigate life without me by her side. LaCountis, take a page out of my book and enjoy the time you have on Earth, me and Phil will keep the party going until you get on this side.  Know that I am with my loved ones on the other side and have also reunited with my brothers Ronnie and Duke. As you can imagine we are having a time!

I pray that God will comfort my family as they mourn my loss. In addition to my above mentioned family I leave my sister Phyllis Brown (Bobby) and my brother Randolph Privott. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

As I took my last breath holding my daughter’s hand God placed a rainbow in the sky. Let that be a reminder for you all as you continue. Every time you see a rainbow think of me; Phillip Privott Sr. the king of all kings..pimp of all pimps…and Shaka for life! Pour one up for me, one time for the one time. I love you all! Until we meet again.
