Pernel Roosevelt Perry, Jr.

PERNEL ROOSEVELT PERRY, JR. was born on May 27, 1951 at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, to the late Nettie Westbrook Perry and the late Pernel Roosevelt Perry. He departed this life on January 24, 2024 at Sentara Obici Hospital, with his daughters, Carlette and Tosha, by his side. Pernel grew up in Suffolk, VA and attended public schools here. He worked a variety of jobs in Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News, VA. His favorite jobs included landscaping and house painting. Pernel enjoyed his family, loved hanging out with his many friends, and loved listening to sixties and seventies music. We will miss Pernel for his sense of humor and free-spirited attitude. Pernel was married to the late Linda Beamon Perry. Pernel was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Jones, Horace Jones and Bernard Perry, and his grandsons, Davante (Pigg) Wilson and Duquan (Bugg) Wilson. Pernel will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Carlette Hawkins Johnson and Tosha L. Perry (Wesley); his grandchildren: Dyanna Hawkins, Adriean Hawkins, Chacobi Vaughan (Gregory Neal), Dequazhanique Perry, Darieon Perry, De’Andre Wilson and Dy’Nazja Perry; his sister: Anna Jones Lipscomb (Edward); eleven great- grandchildren; first cousin, Joel Westbrook (Eva) and many other cousins and friends.
