Peggy Hill

Sunrise: October 1, 1954

Sunset: February 19, 2023

Peggy Lee Hill entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 19, 2023, following a brief illness.  She was born on October 1, 1954, to Cleothas and Francine Nichols in Norfolk County (now Chesapeake, VA).

Peggy grew up in the Fentress section of Chesapeake, VA along with her five siblings.  She kept a calm demeanor and a cheerful disposition because she would greet you with her beautiful smile to let you know that she was happy to see you.  She was educated in the Chesapeake Public School System and took her skills and talents into the workforce when she began with Beth Sholom Nursing Home in Virginia Beach, VA.

Peggy began her federal service in 1981 with the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) where she continued to render dedicated service for 35 years until her retirement in 2016.  Her work did not go unnoticed as she was honored with a Plank Award for helping to commission the NAVSUP NEXCOM Southeast Distribution Center (Florida) in 2001 and given a citation and award for outstanding service.

Peggy was well-rounded.  She had many hobbies and interests.  She enjoyed cooking, eating crabs, spending time with family, dancing and watching her favorite NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles.  Centerville Chapel A.M.E. was her home church.  She shared her love for singing in the both the Junior and Senior Choirs and supported many initiatives.

Peggy Lee Hill was preceded in death by four siblings: Catherine Cuffee, Mary Lewis, Cleothas Nichols Jr., and Ricky Nichols Sr.  She leaves to cherish her memories; Parents, Cleothas and Francine Nichols of Chesapeake, VA.  Sister, Darlene Nichols of Portsmouth, VA.  Goddaughter, Danair Burke of Greensboro, NC.  She also leaves four nieces, one great niece, four great-great nieces, six nephews, twelve great nephews, three great-great nephews, six aunts, four uncles, and host of cousins and friends.

Peggy Lee Hill will truly be missed and although her Circle of Life has ended on earth, she has begun a new life and will be that angel watching over us.
