On March 22, 2025, God summoned Pastor Joycelyn Aretha Moody, who peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home from Chesapeake Regional Hospital in Chesapeake, Virginia. Pastor Moody touched many lives during her journey and will be tremendously missed. Pastor Moody was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on September 2, 1957, to the late Deacon Raymond Otto Moody, Sr. and Elder Norma Sara Moody. She was the third child of this beautiful couple.
Pastor Moody graduated from Norview High School, Norfolk, Virginia. After high school graduation, she continued her pursuit of knowledge. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the prestigious Norfolk State College, presently known as Norfolk State University. Pastor Moody earned a Master’s Degree from Virginia State University, which we once referred to as “Big State” in counseling. Pastor Joycelyn Moody was very passionate and devoted to doing the work of the Lord. She was the founder and director of Little Faith Daycare, which was opened about five years or more. Also, Pastor Moody was a High School Counselor, a Teacher at various schools, a Group Home counselor for the mentally challenged, and a Summer Counselor for the STOP organization.
Before being ordained as a pastor, she was ordained as an Elder in Faith Mission Ministries International. Also, she was the Church Administrator and Sunday School teacher. Elder Moody was the first Minister of Music and a full-time pianist. The Lord anointed her hands to play the keyboard with skillfulness and finesse. She loved music, but she loved witnessing in and out of the community. Everywhere Elder went, she would not only witness about the Lord but hand out flyers inviting souls to church and the Lord.
Elder Joycelyn Moody was ordained as Pastor of Faith Mission Ministries International in 2015. As pastor, she was under the direction of Chief Apostle Wonders and also Chief Apostle Herlene Streeter.
Pastor Moody was affectionately called our Baby by her members who loved and adored her. Pastor Moody is survived by Chief Apostle Wonders, Elder Dr. Mildred Redd (Terence), Raymond Otto Moody, Jr., and Michael Moody. Her niece, Tameka Calhoun-Lawrence, and nephew Robert E. Calhoun, Jr. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Morris from Rock Hill, South Carolina who truly loved and supported their aunt in bible study and prayer through the years. Some of the aunts include Mrs. Lyndora Parham (deceased), Mrs. Novella Higgins (deceased), and Mrs. Bernice Gregory (deceased). Some of the cousins include Ronald Gregory (Melinda) and Michael Parham (Linda). Pastor Moody will be dearly remembered by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, Apostles, Pastors, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

March 29, 2025 at 10:32 pm**A Tribute to Our Beloved Auntie and Pastor**
Although our hearts are heavy, yet filled with love,
For you, our jewel, now shining above.
Auntie, our pastor, so precious, so dear,
Your love and wisdom still echo here.
We love you, we miss you—more than words can say,
You taught us faith, you taught us grace,
You helped Guide our steps as we run this race
Faith Mission and Greater Faith we will stand strong,
Because of your teachings—and you loving us through it all.
You poured your heart into every prayer,
A light so bright, beyond compare.
Thank you for all the seeds you’ve sown,
In every life, your love was shown.
You are our baby, and our jewel
Though we grieve, we also rejoice,
Hearing your laughter, and your sweet voice.
We’ll carry your lessons, strong and true,
Living in faith, in honor of you.
Rest now, dear Auntie, in heaven’s embrace,
Wrapped in His love, in His perfect grace.
Until we meet again, we’ll hold you near,
In our hearts, you are forever here.💐
