Pamela Yvette Reese

Sunrise: December 20, 1967

Sunset: October 21, 2021

On October 21, 2021 our beloved Pamela (Pam) Yvette Cherry Reese was called by the Master to accept her heavenly rewards. She was born on December 20, 1967, to John Harden and Naomi Smallwood Cherry in Portsmouth, VA.

Pam was educated in the Portsmouth Public Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1986. After high school, she attended cosmetology school at Portsmouth School of Beauty.

Pam served as a paraprofessional at S. H. Clarke for many years. And also at Raising Horizons Charter School in Blue Bell, PA.

Pam was an invaluable member of the family and her community. She had been the family caregiver ever since she was a little girl and had always had a loving way with children. She watched over and cared for the entire family’s children crossing over multiple generations. Her home affectionately became known as “Precious Angel Day Care”. She gave family and friends a peace of mind knowing that their children were being taken care of properly while they worked, ran errands or went on vacations. It was at Precious Angel Day Care where cousins truly bonded and enduring friendships formed.

Pam was an excellent cook and from time to time she would sale dinners. She loved cooking for her large family for their numerous functions and celebrations. Everyone in the family has at least one Pam Favorite dish whether it was fried chicken, corn and dumplings or her Mother’s recipe for sweet potato pies (Pammy Pies). Her food brought joy and comfort to us all.

Pam accepted Christ as a young girl, she enjoyed attending services and programs at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville with her mother and family.

Pam lived a wonderful life as a child and also as an adult. She was a quiet, beautiful, caring person with a gentle smile. She always had a listening ear, encouraging words and a positive attitude to everyone. Pam loved her family with all her heart. She took delight in spending time with her daughters and grandchildren on outings and going on vacations with her extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents, John Harden and Naomi Smallwood Cherry; son, John H. Reese; siblings, Clara Cherry, Leslie McCoy Cherry, Reginald D, Cherry Sr. and Carlton H. Cherry.

Left to cherish her many precious memories are her 3 daughters, LaVonda K. Cherry-Harding (Lamont), Cynthia J. Burwell (Terry), and Ke’Asha M. Butler (Julien); 5 siblings, Velma C. Banks (Clifton), Margie Y. Canty (Carey), Cynthia C. Bowser, Vinson C. Cherry (Rita), Ronald Bentley Cherry (Kimberly) and sister-in-law, Cheryl Miles-Cherry, all local; 8 grandchildren, Kiara, Lamont, Kayla, Grant, Madison, Gavin, Gabrielle, and Grayson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our beloved Pam will be missed.
