Pamela Denise Briggs departed this life on July 6, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born in Chelsea, MA on September 30, 1963 to USN Ret. Harold H. Briggs (deceased) and Evelyn E. Goodman Briggs. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Arthur and Viola Goodman of Chesapeake, VA.
Pam was educated in the Chesapeake public school system and graduated from Western Branch High in 1981. After graduation she attended Norfolk State University where she studied business. She later moved to Boston, MA where she was employed by Prudential Insurance Company. She was later employed by The Boston Company, laws firms to include McDermott, Will, & Emory, Goodwin & Proctor, and then Northeastern University. Pam was known for her great administrative and technical skills, fast typing, and wonderful people skills. She had a pleasing personality, wonderful demeanor, and a beautiful smile.
In April 1991 she became the mother of her only child, son Lewis Smith, whom she greatly adored. Pam had a giving spirit and would do anything for anyone. In 2017 she spent several months in Virginia as the caregiver for her Aunt, Ethel Wallace when she was placed in hospice care. Pam was a great cook which she learned from her grandmother. She often prepared meals for her son’s friends, neighbors, and co-workers and she also catered many events. Pam was truly the epitome of southern hospitality in Boston.
Pam leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Evelyn Briggs of Portsmouth, VA; son Lewis Smith and his father Lewis (Big Lew) Smith both of Boston, MA; sister Cynthia McCoy (Victor) of Lynchburg, VA; 3 brothers, H. Vincent Briggs (Kathy) of Brockton, MA; A. Michael Briggs of Portsmouth, VA; and Sean Briggs of Minneapolis, MN; 5 nieces; 6 nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pam will be truly missed and leaves a big hole in our hearts. She was a great daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
