Paige B. Small, Sr.

Paige Bernard Small Sr, son of the late Idonia and Carter Paige Small was born on October 28, 1934.  He peacefully made his transition on May 24, 2019.

Paige attended IC Norcom High School and was employed with Hall Bakery, The Colonial Store Bakery and The City of Norfolk retiring as a Traffic Engineer with over twenty years of service.

“POP” as he was affectionately known loved his family unconditionally.  He was a father figure for many and was always available to lend a helping hand to others in their time of need whether it was offering someone a place to lay their head, a meal or monetary gifts.  Pop’s unique sense of humor could not be compared to anyone else.  His word was his bond.  Everyone in the neighborhood knew him, loved him and looked out for him and his loving wife.  He had a love for The Gaither’s a southern gospel group and the Washington Redskins.

His legacy will live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom lives he impacted greatly.

His memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 64 years Mrs. Mary Beatrice Small, His beloved children Mr. Marvin Jenkins (Gabrielle) Hermitage Tenn; Ms. Sheron Jones Portsmouth VA; Mr. Paige Bernard Jr. Portsmouth VA; Mrs. Karen Jones (Danny) Portsmouth VA; Mr. Steven Small Portsmouth VA; Mrs. Myra Jones (Johnnie) Douglasville GA; Mr. Nelson Delano Small (Twanii) Chesapeake VA; and Mr. Lonnie Cooper Portsmouth VA- a son that was adopted into their lives.  His siblings Mr. Walter Small (Gloria) Bronx, NY; Mr. Raymond Small (Vickie) Clinton MD; Ms. Pattie McMann Portsmouth VA; and Ms. Shirley Greene Portsmouth VA.  18 Grandchildren, 54 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, In-laws, family and Friends.
