Ordress Perry Watford was the youngest child of the late Oscar and Roberta Perry. She was born on January 15, 1933 in Bertie County, North Carolina and departed her earthly life on April 15, 2023 at the Rosemont Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Virginia Beach, VA.
Ordress attended the public schools of Bertie County. On Jan 8, 1951, she married the love of her life, Trannie Watford. Upon her marriage, she began working various jobs throughout Norfolk, VA.
For many years, Ordress was a loyal and dedicated employee at Old Dominion University, where she retired as an Environmental Services Supervisor.
Ordress became a member of Faith Temple Church of God in the local neighborhood. Throughout her active years of membership, she was an appointed “Mother of the Church.”
Ordress enjoyed fashions (especially church hats), cooking and canning fruits and vegetables, decorating her home, and spending time with her family.
Ordress was preceded in death by her husband and her only son Trannie Junior Watford; sisters Alice Downing, Mary Outlaw, Geneva Hardy, Etta Morris, and brother Matthew Perry. She will be dearly missed by her daughters: Theresa Washington, Juanita “Gina” Fuller, Juneifure “Jenny” Vaughan, Vera Barnes (Andrew), Fay Bailey (Jurnell), and Yvonne G. Mathews all residing in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. One sister, Otelia P. James of Chesapeake, Virginia; in-laws: Lula Mae Perry, Annie Watford, Maggie Gaskins all of Bertie County, and Evelyn Goode of Chesapeake, Virginia and Henrietta Watford of Virginia Beach; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
