Novella L. Whitaker

Novella Leonthy Payton Whitaker received her call to Glory on November 6 2021. She enjoyed the life she was blessed to live and shared much of her time with family, friends and “the neighborhood “kids” ; they were sure to get into game of “Spades” with her.  She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church were she served in the Senior Choir and the Senior Gospel Choir. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Percy Payton Sr.; her loving husband, Raymond “Killa” Whitaker Sr.; 7 brothers: Percy Payton Jr.,Milton Payton, James Payton, Leon Payton, Pernell Payton, Earl Payton and Nathan Payton; 4 sisters: Daisy Reid, Evelyn Wiggins, Vernell Crudup and Velma Collins. Her son, Pernell Whitaker Sr., 3 Grandsons: Raymond D. Davis, Travis and Pernell Whitaker Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory; 4 daughters: Zelda V. Whitaker-Brown, Sylvonia Whitaker, Lucinda Manley (Bruce) and Monique Whitaker-Williams; 3 sons: Raymond Whitaker Jr., Raynell C. Whitaker (Ateba), and Carnell Williams for whom she was his legal guardian. 19 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild; 6 Sisters in law, 1 Brother in law and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Exceptional Friends.

Though We Will Miss You GREATLY, We Take Comfort In Knowing That “The Original 12 Pack Has Been Restored”.

    Wow! It’s 01-02-22 and I’m just seeing this. I just want you to know I appreciate the love you always showed me. I always have fond memories of people and I will always remember your warm smile and your Sister Vernell’s voice and her harmonica solo at my Mom’s homegoing service! I pray you RIP!
