It is with great sadness that the family of Nita Elaine Burno Wood announces her passing on September 3, 2019. Nita, a.k.a. Bug, will be lovingly remembered by her children, Claudius, Ernest, DeMarcus and Keva.Nita will also be forever remembered by her grandchildren, Malachiyah, Allen, Ernest and Toshiba, by her sisters Patricia B. Raynor (Ralph), Nellie Doane (John), Della M. Burno, Franscine Smith (King), Freda Miller (Samuel), and Jamie Milner; by her brothers Burgess Wiggins, Edward Wallace (Carol), James E. Burno (Janice); and by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and six Godchildren. She also leaves behind her longtime Best Friend Veronica Smiley, a special niece Patty Finnell and a host of extended family members, dear friends, valued colleagues and loved students.
Nita was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Wood, Jr., mother Della Mae Burno, father James Elijah Burno, Sr., sisters Barbara J. Porter (Johnny), Savannah L. Burno and Paulthine Gilliam and brothers John Wiggins, Willie Wiggins and Mark Burno.
