Nikena transitioned to be with the Lord on November 28, 2024, at Chesapeake Regional Medical. Nikena, affectionately known as Kena, was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to Angela L. Wilson and Johnny C. Whitaker on October 2nd,1985. Kena was a graduate of Oscar Smith High School. She was also employed by Chesapeake Public Schools for a short time before she fell ill. She was raised in the church by her late Great Aunt Edith Whitaker. Aunt Edith would often refer to her as Tena (no K). Kena will be remembered as an amazing, loving, and kindhearted woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, godmother, grandmother (Gum Gum), and friend. Kena poured love into everyone she encountered, and her presence was felt in any room she entered. She had a giving spirit and a loyal heart. She was the life of the party and was guaranteed to make you laugh. If you knew Kena, you knew she loved her children more than anything and took the role of caring for all children naturally.
Nikena is predeceased by her grandparents, Hubert Wilson Sr., Rosa L. Wilson, George L. Whitaker, Lucille Whitaker, Edith Whitaker, and one son, Forrest Lee Neal, Jr.
She leaves to carry her legacy a loving husband, Forrest Lee Neal, three daughters, Knyah R. Wilson, Jimayca E. Jackson, Zinyah D. Jackson, five sons, Ta’Vion L. Neal, TyQuan L. Neal, Nasir, Tavyonne, Jayden and one granddaughter Laylonee A.T. Wilson. Nikena’s siblings Latonya D. Wilson, Angela C. Wilson, Johnny C. Wilson, Zemonte O. Vaughn, Zari Z. Vaughn, Zamauri Z. Vaughn, and Johnathan Norfleet will hold her dearly forever. Nikena has nine uncles, seven aunts, twelve nieces, nine nephews, seven greats, and a host of family and friends, including three special people, LaMonica Askew, Cassandra Morning, and Chela Whitaker (Cousin Dina), to cherish her memory.

December 13, 2024 at 7:31 pmOh my sweet friend! I loved being your nurse and getting to know you! We had some great talks and some great laughs along the way. I feel lost and without closure because I didn’t get to take care of you the way I had imagined and I never got to say goodbye. Fly high sweet friend, fly high.
Love and miss you.
