Today, we celebrate the life of Myron Waymond White, Sr. Our heavenly father called him home on June 22, 2025. He was surrounded by his beloved children and grandchildren. Myron was born on August 1, 1953, in Windsor, North Carolina, to the late William D. White and Virginia L. White.
Myron took an interest in playing the guitar at the age of fifteen. He was a proud graduate of Granby High School in Norfolk, VA. While there, he was a drummer in the marching band. He also played baseball. His love for music continued to grow, and he and some of his childhood friends formed a band called “Solid Souls.” After that, Myron continued to create memories and melodies that brought people together, by proudly taking the stage with another band called “The Showmen.” Myron attended Tidewater Community College to acquire skills while working with General Electric. Myron was employed for over 20 years with Shellar and Globe, then later retired from MWR in 2018.
In 1973, Myron married Cathy L. Robinson, and from this union, they had two beautiful children.
Myron leaves to cherish his memory two children, Michelle Floyd, Portsmouth, VA and Myron White, Jr., Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren, Kiara L. Ramirez, LaRita M. Floyd, Tashara T. Floyd, Myron White, III (Keyaira) and Myleah White; Great grandchildren, Kamille L. Ramirez, LaMyra R. Barnes, Macyn H. White, Kyheir L. Godsey; siblings, Superintendent William D. White, Katherine Robinson, Willow Jean Artist, Elder Troy S. White, Elder Kenneth C. White and Kimberly F. White; godchildren, Javon Maye and Nathanial Artist, Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members.
Myron lived with a rhythm in his soul and a spark in his spirit. He had many hobbies and things he was passionate about, which included fishing, crabbing, cooking, playing cards, puzzles, listening to music, and most importantly, spending time with family. He was known for his sense of humor; it would brighten anyone’s day. His infectious smile had a way of lighting up every room he entered, leaving those around him feeling happy. He made everyone feel special.
Mayron will be greatly missed by all.
